We project manage the build, taking care of everything, from the moment your building arrives on site, to handing you the keys to your new living space, and a dedicated site manager will ensure that the build process goes to plan.
With the foundations and services already in place (we have groundworks teams to manage this if you wish), your new building will be delivered by lorry in specialist kit form, straight from the mill.
The way your building is erected is as important as the manufacturing process in ensuring maximum performance, and our highly skilled and experienced build teams will erect your building according to drawings, make sure that the structure is air tight, insulation and other material is fitted properly, doors and windows are fitted and that the structure is watertight.
The build process is actually very quick, and the time we spend on site is very short. This is because your building has already been precision engineered to exacting standards in factory controlled conditions before being sent from the mill in specialist kit form. This effectively means that much of the build has already happened.
If you compare the process to a bricks and mortar approach, the build starts in the factory rather than on site, so it can’t be delayed for reasons like bad weather, plus there is a lot less on site disruption time. Depending on build type and size, the structure is usually erected (as described above) in 1-4 weeks, whereas a brick house would easily take 3-6 months to erect.
Timber frame models are the quickest to erect because entire wall panels are prefabricated. These panels already have the wall layers, such as insulation, built in, and effectively slot together – with our timber frame show home the time from pre-prepared base to watertight structure was only four days!
Log models take a little longer to erect because they are built log-by-log, but the process is still very quick. Electrics and plumbing is fitted between wall layers during erection, if you have chosen a twin-skin log option; and if you wish to use your own local tradesmen then they will need to be scheduled accordingly.
We appreciate that is can be more economical for our customers to arrange the internal fit out themselves using local tradesmen, so with the structure erected and watertight (with all windows and doors fitted) we can hand the keys over to you for plumbing, electrics, kitchen/s, bathroom/s, plaster boarding and flooring to be fitted, plus decorating. However, we can offer a full turn-key solution, managing all (or some) of the above (kitchens and bathrooms would then be zero VAT rated, if for private use), if you prefer.
